Addressing The Needs of Liberia

Here Liberians come to receive aid - shoes, clothing, medicine, food, sporting goods

Mission To Liberia is committed to several main objectives in addressing many of the needs of the Liberian population.

- Direct Aid in the form of First Aid Kits, vitamins, food supplements, food and clothing are being provided on an ongoing basis as funds are made available and items are collected for export.

- Operation of a health education outreach center in Duazhon, Margibi County. Construction was begun in 2006 and the first floor is now completed. The first floor is 2,400 square feet housing warehouse space, a garage, rooms for educational programs. We are planning to add two additional floors to expand our opportunities for education and to provide living quarters for visiting health care professionals. This facility serves a multi-purpose function.

- We have also committed our organization to help the University of Liberia's schools of General Medicine and Pharmacy acquire the tools needed to better educate students who are trying desperately to help themselves, their families, and the communities in which they intend to serve. Currently, the University lacks EVERYTHING one would expect of an educational institution...no text books, no computers, no laboratory equipment...NOTHING. We will be providing all of these items to the University as funds and donated items become available

- We are also working with various other organizations who share our commitment to helping the poorest of the poor.

- We are partnering with the Lions Club to send 30,000 pairs of eyeglasses to Liberia this year. We have committed to delivering them to the Greater Monrovia Lion's Club free of charge. People will have their eyes examined and receive eyeglasses free of charge.

- We have partnered with "SportsGift", a nonprofit organization that donates sporting goods to other non-profits for distribution to children in third world countries. Our last export container included soccer equipment for many teams.

When we first arrived, the only equipment this particular village had was one semi inflated soccer ball. I can't begin to tell you how thrilled the children and their families were to receive such a generous gift. The entire village turned out for a soccer game played for our enjoyment.
